Summer Academy Helps Prepare Students for the Upcoming School Year
In conjunction with Boston Public Schools, MathPower is offering an Algebra I readiness section in this summer’s Academy. In this section those students who are attending Boston Public Schools that are participating in the Algebra I Initiative and are entering 7th grade next fall are able to sign up for this section which will help prepare them for this transition. Every classroom will be staffed with a teacher and two teaching assistants who will encourage an atmosphere focused on promoting the learning of mathematics in a safe, interactive and engaging environment. Attendees are able to learn at their own pace and hone their individual skills by improving upon both their strengths and weaknesses.
Each student is placed in a classroom that is tailored to strengthening the skills they've learned in the previous school year as well as preparing them for concepts that will be presented in the upcoming school year, giving our students the confidence they need when they enter the classroom in September.
In the afternoon, students will spend their time in a variety of clubs, ranging from activities such as soccer and volleyball, to painting and photography. All students at the Academy are required to take the College and career exploration club, as well as the "How to be Awesome!" club.
